Emergency Services Find Ribbon Congratulations to C/SrA Brenden Smith and SM Jeff Smith for earning their Search and Rescue "Find" ribbon
on their very first Ground Team mission last night (this morning). We were dispatched at 2030 on 20 April with an additional ground team for a possible Aircraft down in the Whipple Mountains wilderness area in Needles CA. Our team was sent to Blythe, CA. After further investigation and no signal heard by the CAP AC working with us, we were turned around from Blythe to go home. The CAP AC then herd a signal over Thermal Airport and landed to check it out. Both ground teams arrived shortly after and found an ELT tripped in a Canadian Corporate jet at the airport. Ground team members from Sq-45 included, C/SrA Smith, SM Smith, Capt Stout and Capt Benner. For more information on how you can get involved in this stuff, visit our E.S. page and talk to any of the members involved. Posted 21 April 2013
CAP General Emergency Services Program
Anyone want to save lives?? Be part of an Air Crew?? Do you like to be out doors?? Find out what you are really capable of.. Team work... Commitment..
If any of that sounds interesting, you should get started in the CAP ES program (Search and Rescue). There is no age limitation, You can get started at 12yo (18yo for Air Crews). Not everyone can do everything, but everyone can do something. Here are some of the jobs..
>> Mission Base Staff (Great for members that don't have the energy to be out in the field)
>> Ground Search Teams (If you have the strength and energy to hike steep terrain in bad weather carrying a large backpack, you can do this from 12yo and up)
>> Urban Direction Finding - UDF (This job gets you out into the field without the strength and hiking requirements of Ground teams. This is also the most common mission we are dispatched to. This job is good for young and old. It can involve walking moderate distances but no hiking)
>> Air Crews (You do not need to be a pilot to get involved here, but you do need to be at least 18yo. Almost every mission we do includes launching a CAP aircraft, No experience needed, just free training)
PANCAKE BREAKFAST A HUGE SUCCESS!
Squadrons 45 and 20 joined together to feed a hungry crowd at the Veteran’s Parade on April 20th. The morning concluded with several cadets representing CAP in the parade. Thank you for all your hard work and to all those who participated. Special thanks again to the Goude's from CAWG for all their help. Posted 23 April 2013

CAWG Cadet Competition Congratulations to Group 7
Group 7 Won the CAWG Cadet competition this weekend, Great job!
Every competing Squadron took first place in at least one category, but Group 7 took the big prize. Our own Group 3 Squadron 59 was doing a great job at the competition and had a real chance of winning the event until three of their members started showing signs of the flu. It was a very tough decision for them, but they decided it was in the best interest of all of the competitors if they were to withdraw from the competition and get their members home safe to recover. I hope they get a chance to try again if we don't beat them next year! There will be a video posted of the event in a few weeks. Posted 20 January 2013

Wreaths Across America Wreaths Across America is coming up on 15 December and is planned to be bigger and better than ever. Please arrive at 0800 and plan to be there until about noon. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate. The Civil Air Patrol has chosen Wreaths Across America as its premier annual community service event because it reflects CAP's own feelings about America and its veterans as evidenced by its motto:
Remember.. the fallen. - Honor.. those who serve. - Teach.. .our children the value of freedom.
Since CAP first became involved in 2006, Wreaths Across America has blossomed from honoring a few thousand veterans' graves with wreaths to placing more than 160,000 wreaths last year.
Though remembering veterans will always be the main focus of this program, Wreaths Across America benefits the community and Civil Air Patrol, too. For those of you who wish more people knew about CAP, this is a great way to make that happen.

Basic Cadet School/ Airman Training School
Cadets: If you have never been to a BCS (Basic Cadet School) now is the time. You will learn a lot, meet new friends and have a lot of fun. This is a fantastic first event and a great stepping stone to really get you going in the program. If you have already been to one, please consider applying for a staff position. Ask your element leader for help if you are not sure how to do this.
Seniors: Participating in events and schools like this is a great way for seniors to get more involved, learn a lot more about some of our best programs, and just like the cadets, meet new friends from all over the state. I highly recommend you apply to help out. I do these things all the time and it is a lot of fun. In fact it is one of my favorite parts of CAP. Don't worry about not being qualified for anything or not knowing what to do. Everyone at all these events are always very helpful and will quickly get you going in the right direction without any previous experience required.
Hope to see a lot of you there. Send me a form 150 to sign, or bring it into squadron for any of the command staff to sign for you. Flyer - Video

Safety Currency
We have too many members behind in safety currency. This reflects poorly for the squadron when Group and Wing run safety reports. Please be sure your safetyy currency is always up to date. If you are not current you will get a warning in RED when you log into eServices. You will not be permitted to participate in any meetings or events with CAP.
Here is how to fix it. Log into eServices, >>> Click on "Online Safety Education" on the left of your screen, >>> Take ANY ONE of the safety training and tests you see in there. Please do only one. Taking more than one may cause you problems later. (You may need it next month) EVEN if you are not currently attending meetings for some reason, PLEASE get your safety up to date for the squadrons sake.
Please let me know via email when you have fixed this. Thanks for your help and understanding in this matter. If you need help getting current please call me. (951) 634-5023 Posted 9 December 2011

Wreaths Across America Wreaths Across America is coming up on 10 December and is planned to be bigger and better than ever.

Group 3 WMAO Duty - Volunteers requested 9-11 Dec
One of the most basic parts of our Emergency Services program is the Wing Mission Alerting Officer Duty. This duty is very simple yet extremely important. When some type of incident has happened in the country requiring Civil Air Patrol response, the Air Force needs to reach an Incident commander in the correct part of the country to get the mission running. The WMAO is the link to this connection. This duty lasts for one 24 hour cycle. The key requirement for the person volunteering for this duty is the ability to be on call to answer your phone at any time in this 24 hour period to take a short report, call another person on a list provided to you, and deliver that same report to them. That's it! You will be provided everything you need and complete instructions. If you can help contact Capt Ken Benner ASAP (951) 634-5023 khbenner@gmail.com More info here

Wreaths Across America is coming up soon and is planned to be bigger and better than ever. National Commander Maj. Gen. Courter has set new goals for us.
