Basic Cadet School

On 15-17 April 2005, C/AB Benjamin Dehnoo, C/AB Peter Boyko, along with C/SMSGT Cami Bushem, made a long journey from the runways of Squadron 45 all the way to Fort Funston in San Francisco. C/AB Dehnoo and C/AB Boyko attended Basic Cadet School, also known as BCS, which is the first activity that cadets may attend in the Integrated Leadership Program, or ILP. The cadets were placed in Bravo Flight, respectively, and received training in Drill and Ceremonies, Customs and Courtesies, Uniform Wear and Care, Cadet Protection Program, Character Development, and an over view of the Aerospace and Emergency Services Branches in the CAP. The cadets, under the instruction of their first sergeant, C/SMSGT Bushem, woke up at 0530 both mornings to do Physical Training (PT), have breakfast, then attented many classes throughout the day.

Both cadets achieved the primary goal of BCS; C/AB Boyko and C/AB Dehnoo gained a thorough understanding of what it means to be a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol, and passed their first leadership test. Now, after completing PT at squadron 45, both cadets will be able to promote to the grade Cadet Airman. Outstanding job, gentlemen!
