Squadron 45 Earns Top Award at Group 3 Color Guard Competition

by

Maj. Michael Boyko

Squadron 45 color guard competed in the Group 3 Color Guard Competition this weekend (12 December 2007) at March Air Reserve Base.  Two cadet teams, one from Squadron 29 and the other from Squadron 45 competed in four (4) distinct events.  The first was the indoor posting of the colors, the second was the flag pole ceremony, the third was the mile run and the fourth was the outdoor drill.  Each team fielded 5 members.  Squadron 45 team consisted of cadets, Boyko, Goude, Franklin, Robles and Domingo.  In only their second competition since their formation last year, Squadron 45's Color Guard was able to take first place.  We are all very proud of their hard work and accomplishment.  They will represent Group 3 in January during the California Wing Color Guard competition at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
