Squadron Leadership School

The Civil Air Patrol Squadron Leadership School (SLS) sponsored by Squadron 45, March Air Field was held June 11-12, 2005 at the Riverside Airport.  The new headquarters for Squadron 5 provided the comfortable accommodations and despite the hum of the air conditioner and the planes taking off and landing eighteen students from five squadrons completed the intensive course.  The students were taught by sixteen different instructors and served by three staff members who provided and excellent choice of snacks for the two days.  Our distinguished guest, Group Commander Helen Orchard was also in attendance.

During the first day's activities Major John Stark was officially promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. Our own Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Cami Bushem was one of the presenters who did a fine job at presenting cadet information to the senior members.

The senior members for Squadron 45 came away from the two day SLS course with a deeper understanding of the purpose, mission and regulations of Civil Air Patrol.
